Think Harmony With Horses
Published in Hardcover by Breakthrough Pub (December, 1986)
Author: Ray Hunt
Average review score:

Ray Hunt is the original and best "Horse Whisperer."
For those who are ready for a fundamental change in how they communicate with their horses, Ray Hunt shows the professional horseperson the path to true happiness with your equine. Ray explains exactly why horses do not understand English nor traditional training techniques. Even though beginners may find this book interesting, this book is for the advanced rider and/or trainer. Ray Hunt's methods work on all manner of horses, from wild Mustang to Olympic contenders. I had been training horses for over twenty years when Ray came along and showed me a much better way. If you are ready for it, this book may become your "bible", too.

To Honor the Earth: Reflections on Living in Harmony With Nature
Published in Paperback by Kathleen Carr (April, 1991)
Authors: Dorothy MacLean, Kathleen Thormod Carr, Kathleen Thormond Carr, and Thomas Berry
Average review score:

Excellent,inspirational--supports planetary stweardship
For the past several years, I have been looking for environmental literature to incorporate into a college course level class I'm designing tentatively called "Nature, Animals and Humans: the New Paradigm." When I picked up a copy of "To Honor the Earth: Reflections on Living in Harmony with Nature," by Dorothy Maclean and Kathleen T. Carr, I realized I had finally found a dramatically evocative and useful core textbook, not only for the college course, but for high school and middle school curriculum as well. Although this gorgeous book was published nine years ago, its words grow more timely and powerful as we perceive more clearly and respond more actively to the warnings Nature is currently giving us about the deterioration of our planet's health. The last chapter, "The Promise of Ccoperation," is extremely healing and can help readers of all ages deal effectively with the despair they feel while witnessing the destruction of natural systems. It shows them the avenues of spirit and action that can lead them to trust themselves to make a difference.

Tells all you need to know about harmony
Wow! What can I say? This book is very well structured with a lot of useful information. If you are into music theory, this is the book for you. If you don't have any ideas for a composition, all you need to do is read a little passage in this book to get you started on your way to writing a song. I highly reccomend this book to you.

Treatise on Harmony
Published in Paperback by Dover Pubns (March, 1985)
Authors: Jean Philippe Rameau and Philip Gossett
Average review score:

recommended
Jean-Phillipe Rameau is, of course, the most esteemed French composer of the late Baroque period (comparable in stature only to J.S. Bach, Vivaldi, and Handel). He is also quite possibly the most influential music theorist ever to have lived. His theory of root progression profoundly altered Western-European-derived music, for the better and for the worse (as his contemporary detractors warned it would--by greatly simplifying the study of harmony such that it could be easily abused). But Rameau's works have rarely been made available in English translation. This is book that belongs on every music theorist's, composer's, and music teacher's shelf. (I impatiently await further volumes of Rameau's works in English translation.)

A great, and inspired way, for any couple to begin a day or end it TOGETHER! This book can make the difference in just thinking about daily devotions together into a reality. It's a great starting place for discussions of God's word between life partners serving and living for Jesus!

Underground Harmonies: Music and Politics in the Subways of New York (Anthropology of Contemporary Issues)
Published in Paperback by Cornell Univ Pr (June, 1995)
Author: Susie J. Tanenbaum
Average review score:

Finally-Wonderful Intellectual Inquiry By A Non-Academic
Tanenbaum's "Underground Harmonies" is simply a beautiful and intelligent study of subway street musicians. Not only does she have the ability to write a colorful and vivid ethnography, she also displays the sociological and legal know-how to analyze their social significance and debate the institutional absorbtion of street musicians by the city.

Understanding Reality the Inner Teachings of Taoism the Book of Balance and Harmony Practical Taoism (The Taoist Classics: The Collected Translations of Thomas Cleary, Vol. 2)
Published in Hardcover by Shambhala Publications (November, 1999)
Author: Thomas Cleary
Average review score:

Sensitive, contemporary feel
Many translations of the Tao Te Ching and Chuang Tzu are merely stylized evocations of religious philosophy. However, Cleary's profound understanding of the texts and his translatory genius in itself is an affirmation of the Taoist doctrine: strive for simplicity and you shall reach profundity. This is a translation which can be applied to everyday situations and yet does not shirk from metaphysics.

Wild Harmony: Animals of the North
Published in Paperback by The Lyons Press (November, 1988)
Author: William O., Jr. Pruitt
Average review score:

brilliant prose and accurate portrait of the north country
I thought that this book excellent. pruitt's tale is a story of the north country that exposes the bevahoirs, violent or not of its residents. pruitt explores the interelatedness of all thing and the ecological balence that the north country assumes. pruittt examines the predator and prey relationships and provides the reader with an understanding from all view points. pruit tells this tale in a way that envoke the almost nostalgic pure reactions for such a place. pruitt is not telling a book about a magic forest adventure though, everything is the truth, the author is a professor of zoology. the combination of effective prose and scientific fact make an interesting read.
